55 East End Ave | Upper East Side

55 East End Avenue, also known as Riverview South, sits along the East River Promenade and recently underwent a renovation to address its dark hallways and cable management issues, all with an efficient budget.

Working with the existing neutral beige marble from the lobby renovation downstairs, we aimed to modernize the color palette for the hallways with rich taupe grays. We highlighted the exterior door frames and improved the lighting, selecting fixtures that cast light upward and outward. We couldn’t add new light locations, so we choose fixtures that not only illuminated the floors but also brightened the ceilings and walls, creating a more open feel.

To manage the building's cable issues, we installed modern crown molding to discreetly hide the cables running between apartments. Given the mid-century architecture, we avoided traditional crown molding and instead chose a sleek, contemporary style. Stainless steel door hardware and engraved apartment IDs were added to reinforce the updated look. The modern nylon carpet tied everything together, balancing aesthetics and functionality.
